Intimate Workshop
Join time lapse expert and educator, Ron Risman, for 4-nights under the dark skies of Moab, Utah. Thanks to the high desert climate (and amazing landscapes), Moab is one of the best locations to learn night-sky photography & time lapse due to its reliably dry and stable weather.
This workshop combines classroom and in-field instruction to help you build the knowledge and confidence to shoot and post process night sky images and timelapses. Our small group sizes provide an intimate learning environment, and our hands-on approach ensures that you'll come away with extensive knowledge on how to compose, capture, and process day and night-sky photographs and time lapses.
New Moon = Darkest Skies
Our dark-sky workshops are always scheduled around the dates of the new moon to ensure that we have the darkest skies possible. Most of us live in light polluted locations, so our view of the night sky is often limited. When you first experience the night skies around the southern Utah area you just might lose a breath or two.
Moab, Utah
Moab is located in the southeastern part of Utah and is hours away from major cities and their light pollution. Moab is also home to Canyonlands National Park, Arches National Park, Dead Horse Point State Park, and almost 2 MILLION acres of breathtaking canyons, fins, and plateau's carved by the Colorado and Green rivers. If that wasn't enough Moab also has close to 2 MILLION acres of breathtaking and accessible canyons, fins, and plateau's that are available to the public thanks to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). And I'd be
wrong to leave out Goblin Valley State Park, which has to be the coolest international dark-sky designated park anywhere in the world.
About our Workshops
Our workshops are a place where you'll learn to capture and create breathtaking day and night-sky photographs and timelapse films - all while connecting with nature and other photographers who share the same passion for astrophotography and time lapse.
As a photographer and educator it is a honor to be able to put together a remarkable night-sky experience for photographers from all over the world, and to see them take what they've learned and continue capturing the night sky long after the workshop has ended.. Many of our photographers come back again and again in order to rekindle that connection with our night skies, and that in itself is success for me.
