REGISTRATION CLOSES ON TWO WEEKS!

Learn advanced timelapse and shooting skills while being immersed in the beauty of Lake Powell.   By day we'll navigate into slot canyons  and coves - on foot and in kayaks.  You'll learn to use bracketing techniques and filters to help capture the wide dynamic range of the lake and canyon walls.  By night, we'll head back to our camp site where you'll learn to capture the night skies as our galaxy crosses overhead.   Lake reflections and some moon light later in the evening will also provide a "midnight sun" quality of light to the lake.

You'll have to unique opportunity to explore some of the most beautiful slot canyons on Lake Powell in Kayaks. The majority of these canyons can only be seen by small water craft, and with nearly 2,000 miles of shoreline, endless sunshine, warm water, perfect weather, and some of the most spectacular scenery in the west, Lake Powell Utah is the ultimate playground for photographers.

At 186 miles in length and featuring 96 side canyons, Lake Powell's beauty and size are simply incomparable anywhere in the world. As the sun rises each morning, the red rock cliffs and sandstone mesas glow, setting the stage for one of the most scenic lakes you will ever experience.

Fact: Lake Powell's shoreline exceeds that of the entire west coast of the United States, which includes California, Oregon, and Washington.

Learn to Capture the Night Sky

Join Timelapse Workshops for our first ever adventure workshop on Lake Powell.    I have been planning this workshop for well over a year and am thrilled to be able to host this workshop during our 5th Anniversary of leading workshops in the Southwest.

You'll learn how to capture breathtaking timelapses - day and night, while spending 5-days, 4-nights on one of the most spectacular man-made lakes anywhere on earth.    With the combination of boating, kayaking, camping, and photography - this is guaranteed to be one of the most exciting learning experiences ever.

This workshop is open to photographers and cinematographers of all skill levels.   The workshop includes in-field instruction and endless photo opportunities. You'll come away from this workshop with extensive knowledge on how to control your camera and compositions, how to capture and process bracketed images, how to best use graduated filters, and how to best capture professional quality timelapses using your DSLR, Mirrorless camera, or Smartphone.

Adventure Workshop

As a camping based workshop participants will be spending five days in the great outdoors. The group will travel by boat to various shooting and camping destinations.   Hidden Canyon Kayaks will be providing gourmet meals at camp and a coast guard certified captain.

Our land excursions will be over a variety of terrain including sand, slick sandstone rock and other non-maintained surfaces, the longest hike is likely to be a 3/4 mile hike up to a ridge line over slick rock. Good footing and good footwear is necessary. Hiking and water shoes a must along with a hat and sunscreen.

We'll also be taking kayaks into slot canyons, many that are unreachable by other means of transportation.

Learn to Capture the Night Sky

This workshop takes place during the week leading up to the new moon. This was chosen in order to give us a few hours of dark skies with a 52%-29% moon rising later and later each night.   The moonless skies before midnight will allow us to capture millions of stars and the core of the Milky Way, while the late rising moon will help to light up the canyon with just enough light for beautiful night images without washing out the Milky Way.

Driving to Page, Arizona

Page, Arizona is a 4 hour, 15 minute from either Phoenix's Sky Harbor International Airport or Las Vegas McCarran International Airport, both located 273 miles from Page, Arizona.   Las Vegas is likely less expensive to fly into, but you can't go wrong either way.
