About
Alstrom Point offers spectacular panoramic views that look over and above Lake Powell. Combined with the fact that May is the perfect time of year to capture the full arch of the Milkyway as it rises over the lake, and you now know why an overnight to Alstrom Point is a bucket list item for many photographers.
This fully outfitted overnight trip will allow us to spend our time shooting the late afternoon sunset, the rise and movement of the Milky way and the golden light of sunrise the next morning. Our outfitter will provide the camping gear, and will prepare dinner and breakfast for us - making this the perfect one night trip under the stars.
This is also the perfect opportunity (and location) to learn to shoot a day-to-night "holy grail" time lapse, and we'll be there to help you with all of the settings and connections.

What to Expect
This is a wonderful experience regardless of fitness or skill level. Our 4x4 will take us right to the overlook, so there is no real hiking required. Elevation is a modest 4900' feet above sea level, so high altitude shouldn't be much of an issue. By the time this trip happens your body should already be acclimated to this elevation
As an instructor I am here for you - not the other way around. I'll be there to instruct and assist you with any questions you have during and after setup whether it's finding a great composition; getting critical focus at night; choosing a proper interval and focal length; understanding hyper focal distance, or any other question that you may have
